I designed the yoke of a sweater depicting my memories of my hometown, Boston. I researched the general history of knitting as well as the traditions of New England, Scandinavian, and Fair Isle colorwork. When it came time to design the yoke, I used the measurements provided in Strange Brew: A Colourwork Knitting Adventure
by Alexa Ludeman and Emily Wessel of TinCanKnits to ensure that it would be properly shaped.

Designing the colorwork, I turned to my memories of what Boston looks like to me: the old houses, the stone walls, the snow, the churches, etc. I also looked at old cross-stitch samplers from the area for ideas on how to make these images fit a small grid like format.

I look forward to knitting the sweater and wearing something that reminds me of home.
